The second meeting of senior regional authorities is coming up, where the opportunities and challenges of the present and future use of artificial intelligence will be addressed.

ON THE SUMMIT

Artificial intelligence has the potential to be an ally for the development of our countries and in the fight for a more equitable, fair and sustainable future, but it can also deepen divisions, exacerbate gender disparities and infringe on human rights and freedoms.

UNESCO, CAF and the Uruguayan Agency for Electronic Government and Information Society (Agesic) are promoting the second Ministerial Summit on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Latin America and the Caribbean. The summit follows up on the commitments established during the first Summit in 2023, with the aim of promoting the Santiago Declaration, and promotes policies aligned with the UNESCO AI Ethics Recommendation.

It is the main political and technical space to address key issues such as AI regulation and governance, and public-private collaboration, in order to position the region in the global conversation on AI.
